Among P2E downturn, Sky Mavis turns to user-generated content for Axie Infinity

On Tuesday, Sky Mavis, creator from the popular fantasy monster-fight nonfungible token (NFT) game Axie Infinity, announced it had recognized the very first user-produced projects in the Axie Infinity Builders Program. From 2,000 applications posted, just 12 were selected for that Builders Program.

One of many perks, selected teams will get the absolute minimum $10,000 grant — denominated in Axie Infinity’s governance token, Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) — to finance project development. They’ll also receive permission to monetize their game while using Axie Infinity brand having a revenue-share model. Notable projects include Across Lunacia, a platforming adventure for Axie NFTs, and Mech Infinity, a fight royale game involving Axies as well as their unique abilities. Philip La, game product lead at Axie Infinity, commented:

“Community co-creation […] is a fundamental driver of scaled-value generation with time. The Builders Program is the initial step inside a ” new world ” in which the community could make significant and significant contributions directly toward games and projects they love and is among many initiatives that will permit players to achieve more enjoyment in the Axies they own.”

Axie Infinity is renowned for its play-to-earn game auto technician, where players can earn digital tokens, for example Smooth Love Concoction (SLP), by finishing in-game tasks using their Axie NFTs. However, the mixture of the inflated token supply, the ongoing crypto bear market and a crowded player base has brought to SLP falling 96% in value in the last year. Consequently, players started to gradually leave the sport his or her earnings required a plunge. 

Based on, Axie Infinity’s daily active players peaked at 2.37 million in The month of january before witnessing four consecutive several weeks of declines. The amount stands now at 1.86 million.
