The BTC origin story: Who designed the Bitcoin emblem?

The vibrant orange Bitcoin (BTC) emblem, for more than ten years, is becoming symbolic of financial freedom among modern-day recession and stringent governmental oversight. However, unlike the mysteries associated with Bitcoin’s origin, the introduction of the Bitcoin ‘₿’ emblem is rather documented within the deep internet. 

When Bitcoin was introduced 13 years back by creator Satoshi Nakamoto, the very first iteration from the Bitcoin emblem symbolized a gold gold coin having a “BC” text baked into the middle, as proven below.

However, on Feb 24, 2010, Nakamoto created a brand new Bitcoin emblem, which saw the substitute from the “BC” text with “₿” embedded inside the gold gold coin.

According to community feedback, Satoshi then incorporated changes in to the new emblem and released the copyright-free images in to the public domain. The emblem then continued to become recognized because the official emblem for Bitcoin for any almost no time.

The decentralized nature from the Bitcoin ecosystem enables everyone to lead towards the Bitcoin network in a variety of forms according to community consensus, including emblem designs. On November 1, 2010, Bitcoin community member bitboy released a brand new iteration from the Bitcoin emblem according to Satoshi’s design. However, this time around the designer made a decision to switch the gold gold coin using the legendary orange circle and tiled the “₿” emblem 14% clockwise.

Because of overwhelming support in the community, bitboy’s design stands because the official emblem for Bitcoin during the last 12 years. After releasing the finalized form of the Bitcoin emblem, bitboy mentioned:

“Now everybody can use the graphics freely for commercial purposes with this particular license and never bound by restriction.”

Enthusiasts continue releasing new logos for Bitcoin up to now, however the BTC community has yet to encounter an emblem that compares to the beloved orange ₿.
