The e-commerce giant Amazon . com has formally leaped around the NFT bandwagon, an e-mail sent to a single customer suggests.
Based on the email, Amazon . com has launched some form of “digital token” that may be kept in a “gallery.” Digital tokens also seem to be something that are being sold and offered around the platform, with Amazon . com getting the opportunity to lock and unlock the tokens to ensure they are readily available for buying and selling.
The e-mail added that users will have to “register like a reseller” before NFTs could be listed for purchase.
This news was initially reported by CoinDesk after certainly one of their workers received the e-mail.
Amazon . com hasn’t yet commented in the news, however the company’s Chief executive officer, Andy Jassey, within an interview this past year hinted that Amazon . com finds NFTs to become interesting.
“I think NFTs have really began to consider off […] I expect that NFTs continuously grow very considerably,” Jassey stated at that time. He added that “it’s possible” that Amazon . com will begin selling NFTs sooner or later “down the street.”
The e-mail that seems to verify Amazon’s NFT plan follows several weeks of rumors about Amazon’s crypto plans.
Several unconfirmed media reports have recommended that Amazon . com is focusing on an NFT project, with one report suggesting maybe it’s a Web3 gaming initiative where players can claim free NFTs.
Another report have stated Amazon . com is focusing on an NFT marketplace. Citing anonymous sources, the report claimed industry is going to be launched April 24 which could be known as “Amazon Digital Marketplace.”
Amazon . com itself hasn’t confirmed the reports.
