A noted non-fungible token (NFT) collector has lost ETH 100 (USD 148,665) because of a “joke” invest in certainly one of their own Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains.
The pseudonymous NFT whale Franklin, who holds numerous valuable Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs (amongst others), minted the ENS name stop-doing-fake-bids-its-honestly-lame-my-guy.eth and set it up for purchase using his secondary Ethereum wallet on Tuesday, but additionally placed an offer of ETH 100 using his primary wallet.
Today, he offered that ENS domain to another person for ETH 1.9 (USD 2,825) and required it to Twitter to celebrate his profit, writing: “Well this is actually the most surprising 1.891 ETH I’ve ever made.”
As they was busy posting on Twitter, the brand new who owns the ENS domain recognized the 100 ETH bid Franklin had formerly placed — and offered the domain to the pseudonymous NFT collector.

DCinvestor tweeted,
“Y’all gotta respect the blockchain like a fiduciary layer and never bypass making joke bids on stuff, signing 100 ETH out of your wallet.”
The collector added that, “Every time you sign something of that nature, have the gravity from it. I actually do shame Franklin’s loss here, but allow it to be considered a lesson to everybody.”
